Typical me, I decide to finally visit a photography exhibition that has been resident in the M Shed for 3 months ...on the final weekend!
In fact, the penultimate day. So, unsurprisingly there was a rather large queue at 12 noon yesterday. My mum and I only had to wait about 15 minutes, but once inside the exhibition it was pretty packed and felt a bit chaotic.
My initial thought was that I was disappointed at the sizes of each image (as you can see in the photo on the left).
For me, I feel that if any photography is to be presented as large as possible it should be wildlife photography, simply due to the huge amount of detail and composition that goes into each image most of the time.
Admittedly, it wasn't essential for them all to be large, but for others they really needed the size for that extra wow-factor.
The images themselves though, were stunning. Such accuracy and perfect timing, combined with beautifully thought out composition went into each image. Some photographers spent days planning their shot, while others excellently stumbled upon the perfect chances (brief text underneath each image gave us background throughout the exhibition).
The age categories stunned me almost even more; '14-16', '11-14', and even a category entitled 'Under 10'. And the presented images from these categories weren't far off competing with some of the adult photography, in my humble opinion.
The M Shed never cease to present such beautiful photography exhibitions, all of which are well worth seeing! I reviewed their last one too (click on the link at the bottom of the page). The only thing I would say is do not leave it right until the last two days to visit! But definitely do visit :)
